How does it work ? 

FOR WHOM? WHY? HOW?

Unlike car drivers who are protected by their car’s hull, motorcycle riders (and other riders in general) have nothing more than their helmet and clothes for protection.

 

Even if the helmet is very effective in protecting the head (until 32 km/h), some vital parts are left unprotected and may cause many deaths and paralysis: neck, vertebral column, liver, spleen, pancreas... 

 

The airbag jackets and vests have been design precisely to avoid these after-effects via three actions:

 

SOFTENING THE SHOCK:

 

The air cushion effect considerably reduces deceleration, which generally cause bursts and crushing of vital organs. Even at very low speed, imagine the difference between a 1.5 meters fall on tarmac or on a well inflated air bed! The airbags on the jackets form an air bed that is precisely located at critical parts.

 

RIGIDIFYING THE BODY:

 

When it comes to the neck and vertebral column, it is essential to soften the shock and to avoid a too important flexion that could break vertebrae and have serious consequences. For the neck, an airbag in the shape of a collar inflates below the helmet and prevent any back and side flexion. To rigidify the body just like any firelighter’s or rescuer’s protection would, airbags inflate inside the jacket, bending it to its limits, which considerably limits any flexion of the trunk.

 

DISTRIBUTING PRESSURE:
