The concept:
In addition to the CE certified protections at the elbows, shoulders and vertebral column, the HELITE jackets are equipped with the latest technology airbags.
In case of accident, as soon as the pilot is thrown out of his/her bike, airbags inflate instantly and protect his/her body. System activation is simple and automatic. A safety string links the motorcycle to the jacket. As soon as the pilot separates from the bike, the string pulls the activation key and the gas fills the airbags. Airbags can soften the fall and collisions. After a few seconds, the gas flows out automatically through a valve.
Connection to the vehicle:
The HELITE jacket looks like an ordinary motorcycle jacket. The difference lies inside and is activated with one single "click". It brings a significant improvement to your safety in case of an accident. Activation of the system is as simple as fastening a seatbelt in your car, so why drive without it?
Fastening:
Depending on the type of vehicle, the safety string can be fastened at different points. It is generally better to place it on the frame, just under the saddle. If it is not possible, then it should be fastened to another part of the structure (handlebars, hook...), as close as possible to the pilot. Installation is very simple; you just need to set the string’s ideal length.
Cartridge:
The cartridge contains CO²
After use, they can easily be replaced with a new cartridge.
We remind you that only the cartridges sold by HELITE are adapted to the HELITE jackets. They must not be replaced with cartridges that are not recognized by HELITE. Cartridges distributed by HELITE have a 6 bar pressure, whereas most of cartridges found on the market have only 1 bar. When using another cartridge, airbag activation is not guaranteed. CO² is a non-flammable and non-toxic gas.
Trigger:
The trigger is a mechanical system made up of a striker, a ball and a spring. The ball is connected to the safety string. When the driver is thrown out of his/her motorcycle, the ball separates and the striker pierces the cartridge under the pressure of the spring.
Airbags:
Airbags are made of a high quality urethane film strong enough to dampen falls. When all airbags are inflated, the maximum pressure is 0.35 kg/cm² (5 psi.). This pressure is progressively reduced through a suppression valve. The striker and spring are attached to an ABS element which isolates them from the driver’s body.
String length control
For a maximal efficiency, the safety string should have the right length. It should be taut when the driver stands on the foot pegs. If it is too short, the string will hinder the driver when standing on his motorcycle. If it is too long, airbags will need more time to activate.
Washing and maintenance instructions:
Before washing your HELITE jacket, remove the airbag system (which is not machine-washable) first, and follow the washing instructions indicated on each jacket. To remove the airbag system from the jacket, please refer to the support manual provided with your jacket. Do not dry it in tumble-dryer.
